Kid's Morning Camp
Derrynane Seasports has been running this hugely popular camp for 12 years! It just gets better and better. Kids Morning Camp is a basic introduction to Water Sports through the medium of fun and play.
Children will be Canoeing, Human Sailing, SUPing (Stand Up Paddle Boarding), Snorkelling, Body Boarding and Surfing (if the weather conditions allow). There are a variety of fun water based games intertwined with the activities and every year we introduce one or two new and novel sports and games. We also do things as simple as jumping off the pier (when the tide is in of course!) and Rock Pool Exploring.
We stop for hot or cold orange and digestive biscuits at 11am for a quick 10 minute break to catch our breath and then we are off again till lunchtime!
On our last day we hand out the well-deserved certificates to our little friends.
Our most popular camp of all. It is such fun that all our Instructors fight to be part of it, we are all “Kiddy Pirates” at heart! All our Pirates are asked to be at the centre 10 minutes before camp begins, to give us a chance to meet Parents and change the “little people” in to their wetsuits and lifejackets and Pirate regalia.
Activities include –
• Canoeing (the “captains” will canoe the Pirates around to the various secret coves! Following a series of clues left at each spot)
• Body Boarding in the large rock pools at “Secret Beach”.
• Snorkelling within the Pirates depth at “Pirates Cove”
• Sandcastle competitions
• Various watery based games which are great fun!
Every day we stop for a picnic and then on the last day after finding all the clues we hunt for the “Pirate Treasure” and hopefully find it!
We started Teen Camp in 2010 and it gains in popularity every year. It is a great way to meet other Teens and have a bit of craic, whilst learning new sports or catching up and improving on old ones.
Activities will include –
• Canoeing/Kayaking – We canoe/kayak around the harbour and to certain venues but we also play games with the canoes/kayaks
• SUP’s - Stand up Paddle Boards
• Snorkelling- An exciting look at the under sea world
• Surfing/Body Boarding _- if the surf is up
Each year we introduce one or more new activities, this year we are delighted to introduce Muli Person Mega Giant Stand Up Paddle Boards to our programmes with all the camps. We feel that this will be a particular exciting and fun activity for the Teens with endless possibilities for games and Team Building during your week with us. But the oldest and most popular activity is the “timeless” jumping of the pier when we have full tide, where everyone gets involved, even the instructors!
Whether you are a beginner or more experienced we can accommodate your needs.
On the last day we finish with the “Royal Rumble” which is a race involving all the activities you have learned during the last 4 days, and this year it will include your raft you Team has made.
We finish off with an open BBQ on Lamb Island and receive your well-earned Certs.
All our instructors are police vetted and handpicked for their experience in their field and with children. They are well qualified and full of fun and many of them with us for several years. There is one instructor per every 4-5 children and a first aider is always on standby.
All children must wear the life jackets that we provide from the time they arrive until they leave at all times. We provide wet suits but if you have your own you are welcome to wear it.
It's important kids and teens alike understand their instructor is in charge at all times.
We are an all inclusive business and embrace all children. For the safety and well being of your child we absolutely need to know of any special requirements, behavioural issues or disabilities so that we can cater and brief our Team accordingly.
